A Leap into the Unknown

by Anne

Who knew?  When I signed on as President in January, I never dreamed that I would be actually falling into the black hole of website magic.

My colleague, Regina, much more tech savvy but with an antiquated computer, participated in a morning of lessons using her iPad.

Laura, our intrepid webmaster, without losing her mind, showed great patience in introducing us to the intricacies of manipulating RRQ’s website.

Now that Regina and I know exactly what we’re doing (ha ha), we will bring you along on the journey to infinity and beyond.  Dare to follow us.

Check out the Inspiration page for our UFO Challenge and prepare to be inspired.

On November 3rd, 2018, we presented our 100th Quilt of Valor! The recipient is a Vietnam veteran. He served as a helicopter crew chief during the war and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. The quilt we presented was a signature block quilt containing messages of thanks from the community.

Since our RRQ group began making Quilts of Valor in 2015, we have made
and presented quilts to combat veterans and active duty military in our local communities. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans who have been touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.

The Foundation began in 2003 and has presented more than 200,000 Quilts of Valor to our military service members who have been in harm’s way. To nominate a military member for a Quilt of Valor, go to www.qovf.org and click on “Take Action”, then on “Request a Quilt of Valor”.
