Quilt Blocks for Ukraine

 – M Devine

March 7, 2022

Last Wednesday, I put out a request for 8 ½ inch blocks in the colors of the Ukrainian flag for collection at the March 6 Guild meeting.  A German International level quilter and teacher, Claudia Pfeil, had appealed for blocks to be sent to her in Germany for assembly into quilts for Ukrainian refugees.  The guild responded enthusiastically with 60 blocks, shown below – which have since been shipped to Claudia.

In addition, Sea Girt police was a collection point for selected items for shipment to refugees – blankets (translate QUILTS) were requested.  I’ve emptied the giving closet and boxed up 10 lap and twin size quilts for shipment over.

Thanks to everyone in the guild for their ongoing support of our Charity group – whether it be blocks, tops or finished quilts – you guys are the best!

Post Script 3/25 – I’ve been following Claudia’s Facebook (you don’t need a Facebook account to watch the progress at this link) Claudia Pfeil | Facebook.  The snips below are from recent updates to her blog.  If you do have a Facebook account and recognize a block as yours, Claudia invites you to tag a block (guessing is ok!).
